Saint Andrew's Episcopal Church offers a variety of opportunities for youth to build community within the group as well as cooperatively with the parish.  The aim of Youth Ministry, under the direction of the Rector, is to nurture and educate the youth in their Christian journey.  Our goal here at Saint Andrew’s is to nurture the youth in the Episcopal tradition of liturgy and worship with a Biblical basis.

Youth Group
We meet each Sunday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at HJ’s Youth Center, which is located across the Wornall Road from the church.  The structure of Youth Group is centered around community building within the group as well as in the parish.  The aim is to nurture and educate the youth through eating together, playing together, learning together and praying together. We also participate in community outreach, church lock-ins, parties and special trips. Saint Andrew’s Youth Group is open to teens entering sixth grade through twelfth grade. If you would like more information about this ministry, please contact
Robin Parks or visit the Group’s website!

Bible Through the Arts
Through various artistic mediums, our Kindergartners through twelfth graders are offered the opportunity to explore different stories from the Bible as well as symbols and artwork from the church.  Examples of activities include: creating stained glass, pottery, jewelry and even participating in some theater with other students of the same age. For more information, contact Robin Parks.

Confirmation
Our most recent Youth Confirmation classes were held in the Spring of 2004, in preparations for Confirmation on Sunday, September 12.

A Prayer for our Confirmands
Christian formation is the responsibility of Christian Community; please remember our youth confirmation classes in your prayers.  “God, you prepared your disciples for the coming of the Spirit through the teaching of your Son Jesus Christ: Make the hearts and minds of your servants ready to receive the blessing of the Holy Spirit, that they may be filled with the strength of his presence; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.”

Acolyte Guild
The Acolyte Guild continues a centuries old tradition of service to the clergy. When one is serving at the Altar, one is doing just that: actively assisting the celebrant in the worship of God. To discover more about becoming a member of the Acolyte Guild, contact Web Thompson, Acolyte Master.  Please click here to view the current Acolyte schedule.

Mid-High Sunday School
The Mid-High Sunday school class is held for grades 6th through 8th. The class meets each Sunday in the Auxiliary room from 10:15 - 11:00 a.m.

Chancel Choir
Youth in high school are eligible to become a member of the Chancel Choir.  Singers rehearse Wednesday evenings from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and on Sundays at 9:00 a.m.  They sing weekly for the 10:15 Eucharist and for special feast days.

Youth Outreach Focus
The St. Andrew’s Youth Group takes part in various outreach projects throughout the year.  On numerous occasions, we serve at St. Paul’s Kansas City, Kansas Soup Kitchen. During the summer, we participate in the Kansas City Metro outreach program called Missionpalooza, which is a week-long mission event that involves teens contributing in work sites around the Kansas City area.  Also, we make a mission trip during the summer out of state...sometimes even out of the country!

For more information on any of these programs, please contact Robin Parks, Director of Christian Formation.
