One of the best things about a church family is simply enjoying
fellowship with each other. In fact, fellowship is one of the most
important parts of what it means to be a church. From the very beginning,
believers have been gathering for the apostles teaching
and fellowship (Acts 2:42), as well as worship.
Looking for community? Looking for connection? Looking for God?
Look for a group!
In a large church, its easy to feel lost in a crowd. Thats
where groups come in. In a group, you can find others who are seeking
what youre seeking learning, relationship, and
a deeper sense of the presence of Christ in their lives.
Group ministry is growing at Saint Andrews. We have several
groups with long histories, as well as newer ones that are just
taking shape. In all of them youll find a hearty welcome,
whether youve been part of Saint Andrews for years or
youve just walked through the door.
Banner
Guild
The
Banner Guild is perfect for those who enjoy design, textile arts
and liturgical beauty. The guild gathers for a brief devotional
time and then works on banners for use in liturgical processions.
The goal is to create a complete set of banners for the entire liturgical
year. All designers, crafters, sewers, etc., are cordially
invited! For more information, contact
Dr. Sharon Hettinger at 816-523-1602, ext. 112, or sharon@standrewkc.org.
Cancer
Support Group
The Cancer Support Group is open to anyone who has had a diagnosis
of cancer, as well as family members and friends of people with
cancer. The group meets monthly at the church to share joys, concerns,
and worries. Rather than discussing medical advice, the group listens,
sympathizes, loves each other, and prays for healing of body, mind,
and spirit. Contact Pat or the Rev. Dr. Jim Moore, 913-897-2376.
Circle
of Grace
The Circle of Grace is an intercessory prayer group that meets
at 11 a.m. each Friday at the church, concluding its meeting with
the noon Eucharist. Contact Peggy Lane (APLaNave@aol.com)
or by phone at 913-362-7824.
Community
of Hope
Community of Hope members provide volunteer lay pastoral care to
complement the pastoral care offered by our clergy. The training
manual for Community of Hope describes volunteer lay pastoral care
as "when a person is being 'present' in a listening, compassionate,
non-controlling manner to an individual or group for the purpose
of consciously or unconsciously representing God to them and seeking
to respond to their spiritual needs." Members receive training
and ongoing, monthly continuing education. Contact the Rev. Beck
Schubert at 913-381-3993 or schubertrm@umkc.edu.
Discipleship
Groups
Our Discipleship Groups meet weekly or biweekly for prayer and
sharing, scripturally based study, discussion, and care for one
another. The groups choose from a variety of study materials. Contact
Fr. John Spicer (frjohn@standrewkc.org).
Fabric
of Life
Fabric of Life is a ministry comprised of quilters, sewers, and
crafters — male and female. The group gathers on Wednesdays,
from noon to 2:30 p.m., and/or Sundays, following the 10:15 a.m.
liturgy, to construct quilts that will be "tied" and given
to people in need. The group is currently working on quilts for
those recovering from Hurricane Katrina in the Diocese of Mississippi
(our partner diocese in hurricane relief). Fabric of Life meets
in the Auxiliary Room, and participants are invited to bring their
own cutting tools (rotary cutters, mats, and rulers), machines,
and "gizmos and gotta-haves" to do the work of cutting,
piecing, sewing, and tying the quilts. For more information, contact
Dr. Sharon Hettinger at 816-523-1602, ext. 112, or sharon@standrewkc.org.
Do you like color?
Do you have a free hour or two a week?
Come and join us at Fabric of Life as we continue to have fun with color, design, fabric and fellowship! Fabric of Life began as a response to Hurricane Katrina, and we have shipped over 100 quilts to the Gulf Coast Cares project!
Please join us!

times during the year for fellowship and learning opportunities,
such as dinner clubs, an annual All Hallows Eve party, Christmas
caroling, a gingerbread-making party, a winter bowling extravaganza,
a moms Bible study, and parenting classes. Contact Jean
(jeanl@standrewkc.org).

Men’s Breakfast
Men of the parish are invited to join together the second Saturday of each month from 8 - 9 a.m. in the St. Andrew's Undercroft. Prayer

Rogers (rogers@broker.com)

The Racial Reconciliation Group of Saint Andrews and Saint
Augustines Episcopal Churches strives to celebrate the diversity

at the church. Contact Meg Townsend at 913-649-5283.
St.
Fiacre Guild
This group of gardeners, named for the patron saint of horticulturists,
comes together to beautify the church grounds and gardens. If you love to garden (or even if you just like to dig in the dirt) please join the St. Andrew’s Gardening Guild on the 2nd Saturday of each month at 9:00 a.m. (after the Men’s Breakfasts which are held on the same day). We always have an enjoyable time trimming bushes, pulling weeds, and generally improving the appearance of the St. Andrew’s grounds. If you have any questions, please contact Ralph Munyan at (816) 444-3517. We hope you can join us!
