Of course, we hope that in your connections with the people of
Saint Andrews, youll hear Gods voice leading you
to join us here. There are several ways that you can become a member
of Saint Andrews it all depends on where youve
come from....
If youre a seeker who has never been
baptized into the Christian faith, then baptism is the place to
begin. Baptism is the sacrament whereby we accept Gods loving
invitation to renounce sin and evil, and turn instead to Jesus Christ
as our Lord. In baptism, we become full members of Christs
Body in the world, the Church. At Saint Andrews, we offer
baptism five times during the year in January (the Feast
of the Baptism of our Lord), in March or April (Easter Vigil), in
May or June (the Feast of Pentecost, in August (the Feast of the
Transfiguration), and in November (the Feast of All Saints). Contact
Fr. John Spicer (frjohn@standrewkc.org).
If youre a baptized Christian who hasnt
been part of an Episcopal congregation before, then you can become
a member of Saint Andrews simply by letting us know that you
want to be. All we need is information about when and where you
were baptized. Once youre a member, we hope that youll
take the next step and present yourself for confirmation
or reception into the Episcopal Church. This is an opportunity
for you to learn more about what the Episcopal Church believes;
make a public, mature commitment to live as a disciple of Jesus
Christ; and be commissioned for ministry by our bishop. Confirmation
classes are offered in the winter and spring in preparation for
the bishops annual visit in the late spring. Contact Fr. John
Spicer (frjohn@standrewkc.org).
If youre an Episcopalian and would like
to transfer your membership to Saint Andrews from another
congregation, simply contact Mary Sanders (mary@standrewkc.org)
or by phone in the church office at 816-523-1602.
If you havent yet been confirmed, we hope youll take
this step as well. Its important to make your own mature,
public declaration of your faith in Christ and be commissioned for
your ministry in the world.
